STATEN ISLAND, NY --Freshman Caleb King went 1 for 4 with a triple for the Delaware State Hornets in an 8-1 loss to the Wagner Seahawks on Thursday.
Sophomore Eddie Del Valle (0-10) got the ball to start for Delaware State (7-32, 6-22) and took the loss. Ryan Mejia was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three innings, giving up one run on one hit, with three walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 7-0 in the eighth inning when they first put runs on the board. Delaware State got an RBI single from junior Jabril Bullock, scoring King from third base. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Wagner added one run to their tally on the way to an 8-1 final.
