EASTON, Massachusetts --Delaware State got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Hornets fell to the Stonehill Skyhawks 26-10 Sunday.
Nathan Vidmar (2-7) started and took the loss on the mound for Delaware State (4-31, 3-21).
Offensively, the Hornets were paced by Brady Daniels, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a double, a home run and an RBI. Jabril Bullock furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBI. Caleb King also contributed for Delaware State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 9-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the second inning. Bullock drove in two runs for Delaware State with a single, that scored King and Carter Boyd.
The Hornets kept the deficit at 9-2 before closing the gap further in the third. The Delaware State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run home run off the bat of Daniels, which tightened the Skyhawks lead to 9-6.
Stonehill expanded their lead to 11-6 before the Delaware State offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 11-7 in the fourth.
The Skyhawks expanded their lead to 26-7 before the Delaware State offense got back in gear, digging into that lead in the sixth. bringing the score to 26-10 in favor of Stonehill. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
