PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland --The Delaware State Hornets were not able to record a run against Maryland-Eastern Shore pitcher J. Stepner on Friday despite recording five hits and were shut out 7-0 by the Hawks.
Micheal Lane (1-3) got the ball to start for Delaware State (1-8, ) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Hornets were paced by Alec Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Delaware State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the sixth, when Santino Harwood made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.
