TEANECK, N.J. --The Delaware State Hornets had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 19-2 despite the efforts of S. Paz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Michael. Lane (1-4) got the ball to start for Delaware State (3-17, 2-8) and took the loss. Brandon Boyd was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Jaryn Sample came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State and get them on the board.
The Knights expanded their lead to 19-1 before the Hornets offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Delaware State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Paz, which tightened the Knights lead to 19-2. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
