DOVER, DE --Delaware State got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Hornets fell to the LIU Sharks 13-6 Saturday.
Sophomore Eddie Del Valle started and took the loss on the mound for Delaware State (3-14, 2-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Jaryn Sample drove in two runs for Delaware State with a single, that scored freshman Santino Harwood and freshman Hassan Turner.
The Hornets deficit expanded to 8-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. which brought the score to 8-5 in favor of the Sharks.
LIU built their lead to 13-5 before the Delaware State offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 13-6 in the ninth. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
