DOVER -- Delaware State lacrosse (0-2) held Kent State (1-2) to a tight second half before falling short, 19-12 Friday afternoon. The Hornets will have about five days before returning to Drass Field on Wednesday, Feb. 28 against Eastern Michigan at noon.
FIRST QUARTER:
Kent State took an early 4-0 lead over the Hornets. London Stewart nailed one in at the nine-minute mark to give the Hornets their first goal of the afternoon.
SECOND QUARTER:
Ebony Reddick started things off for the Hornets in the second quarter with a nice shot from the left, which got Delaware State within two, 7-5. It was all Eagles for the majority of the second half as they scored a total of seven goals. Dylan Wilkes got the last shot of the quarter to put the Hornets within 7 at halftime.
THIRD QUARTER:
The Hornets had four shots but were only able to put one in from Kendal Johnson. The Eagles still lead the Hornets 17-8.
FOURTH QUARTER:
Defensively, Kimaaari Mondy held it down in the final 15 minutes, only allowing two goals. The Hornets outscored the Eagles 4-2 in the final quarter.
