How It Happened
The Bison sparked a 6-0 run in the first period, leaving Delaware State behind. However, the Hornets refused to go quietly. In the second quarter, Kimaari Mondy made some key saves.
Delaware State finally broke through during a man-up opportunity when Blake Tutman fired a shot past the Howard keeper. Just over two minutes later, Makayla Noel capitalized on a clean clear attempt to cut the lead to 8-2.
The momentum continued into the third quarter. Madden Alexander converted a free position shot to pull out the Hornets within five. The defense, now anchored by Savanna Wise, held Howard to just one goal in the period.
The final frame saw Howard regain their rhythm. The Bison extended their lead, while late attempts from Anna Kimbel and Gabrielle Mercedes.
