BALTIMORE, Md. – Delaware State women's lacrosse moved to 0-2 on the season Tuesday afternoon following a 20-2 road loss to UMBC.

UMBC took control of the game early, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter. Delaware State got on the board at the 12:59 mark of the second period when Ceanna McGirt scored unassisted.
The Retrievers continued to find scoring opportunities through the second quarter, but the Hornets managed another goal just before halftime. Anna Kimbel found the back of the net with only one second remaining on the clock, sending the teams into the break with UMBC leading 12-2.
In the third quarter, the Delaware State defense slowed the UMBC attack, holding them to two goals in the period. Mondy recorded several of her 14 saves during this stretch to keep the score at 15-2 heading into the fourth.
Delaware State stayed aggressive with their shot attempts in the final 15 minutes, but they were unable to close the gap. UMBC added five more goals in the fourth quarter to set the final score at 20-2.
