Messmore tabbed by NEC with final regular season weekly honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. --- Delaware State freshman pitcher Jack Messmore was honored as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week in the league's final regular season weekly awards as announced earlier this afternoon.

In the Hornets' 3-2 12-inning win over the Hawks on Thursday, Messmore spent a season-long 7.2 innings on the mound. While he allowed four free base runners, he only surrendered two runs and one hit while striking out a pair too keep his team in line for the win.

Messmore is the third Delaware State freshman to pick up this honor as he joins teammates Evan Bouldin and Nick Gnardellis who were previously recognized during the regular season.
