Rodriguez tabbed as NEC Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. --- Delaware State sophomore and everyday left fielder Alec Rodriguez has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league earlier today.

In a four-game week where the Hornets clinched a pair of wins over the Peacocks of Saint Peter's Univeristy, Rodriguez played a crucial role in the Hornets' offense.

During a total of 14 at-bats, he recorded seven hits for an even .500 batting average. Of his seven hits, he belted two home runs, two triples and a double for a slugging percentage of 1.286 and a total of 18 bases. He tallied four RBIs while also scoring four times and with two walks, he notched an on-base percentage of .563.

This is the first time Rodriguez has been honored with a league-given weekly award.

Delaware State opens NEC action for the first time in program history with a three-game home series against Merrimack College. First pitch from Bob Reed Field is currently scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m.
