BRIDGEWATER, N.J. --- Delaware State freshman catcher / designated hitter Nick Gnardellis has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the league earlier today.
 
Gnardellis appeared in two games over the weekend serving as the Hornets' catcher and designated hitter. He totaled four hits in eight at-bats for an even .500 batting average.
 
Three of his four hits went over the wall allowing him to collect 13 total bases and a 1.625% slugging percentage. He scored four times while driving in three runs and after being hit by a pitch once, he recorded an on-base percentage of .556.
 
This is the first weekly award Gnardellis has collected in a Delaware State Uniform.
 
Delaware State will return to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. for a midweek matchup with Navy.
