NORFOLK, Va. --- Delaware State senior third baseman Alan Alonso was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week as announced by the league earlier today.
 
In Sunday's doubleheader sweep over Coppin State, Alonso was 4-for-8 with three extra-base hits giving him an even .500 batting average across two games. Alonso recorded a double, triple and belted his fifth home run of the season allowing him to collect 10 total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.250. He scored five runs while driving in three of his own. Alonso drew one walk for an on-base percentage of .556.
 
From the third base position, Alonso tallied three assists and no errors for a fielding percentage of 1.000.
 
Delaware State returns to action this weekend with a four-game series matchup against the Hawks of University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). First pitch from Bob Reed Field is scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m.
