Dover, Del. (Dec. 13, 2022) --- Delaware State University scholar-athlete
Sydney Anderson has been nominated by US Lacrosse Magazine as 2022 Best Advocate for her compelling account of our Hornets' women's lacrosse team incident with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office in Georgia.
According to US Lacrosse Magazine editors, "The nominees are individuals who lead by the example of their character. They work for dreams larger than themselves and spend their own time and energy to enact change in communities or groups that need help. They raise significant awareness for causes that either get swept under the rug or are not given adequate resources."
Anderson was recently honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for her role in spearing the news about the controversial stop and search of the team's bus. She was presented with the IWLCA's 2022 Tina Sloan Green Award for her achievements during the organization's Hall of Fame and Honors Banquet in Dallas, Tex.
