Box Score Durham, N.C. (May 9, 2021) --- North Carolina Central scored in each inning of an 11-1 victory over Delaware State in the finale of a four-game MEAC series at Durham Athletic Park today. The Eagles won three of the series games to improve to 21-18 overall and 13-11 in the MEAC this season. The Hornets stand at 14-22 and 12-15.
Luis DeLeon was three-for-five with two doubles and two runs batted in, while Nick Fajardo and Jacob Raby also drove in two for the Eagles.
NC Central scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and single runs in its next four at bats to lead 6-0.
Delaware State scored its lone run in the sixth.
Cole Garey walked to lead off the inning and
Krew Bouldin followed with a double to put runners at third and second with none out. The next batter,
Robert Trujillo, grounded out to short, scoring Garey scoring on the play and advancing Bouldin to third. The Hornets, however, were unable to put any more runs on the board in the inning.
North Carolina Central answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to stretch its lead to 8-1. The Eagles added two more runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. The game was called after NCCU's eighth-inning run due to the 10-run rule.
John Weglarz had two of Delaware State's seven hits.

Peter Carreca (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing two hits and three runs in 1.5 innings.
The Hornets will wrap up the regular season with a four-game series at Norfolk State next weekend (May 14-16). Â Â
