Dover, Del. (Apr. 1, 2019) --- Delaware State pitcher Garrett Lawson (jr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his performance last week.
Lawson was named MEAC Pitcher of the Week after recording a career-high 10 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of the Hornets' 9-2 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Mar. 29. He allowed just five hits and two runs, one earned, in the contest to improve to 4-2 this season (2-0 vs. MEAC opponents).
Also this season, Lawson is tops in the MEAC with a 1.77 earned run average, tied for second in wins (4) and third in strikeouts per game (9.96) and total strikeouts (45).
He's expected to be back on the mound this Friday (Apr. 5) when the Hornets begin a three-game MEAC series against Norfolk State. Game this is 3:00 p.m. The teams are also scheduled for single games on Sat. (2:00 p.m.) and Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
