Dover, Del. (Mar. 18, 2019) --- Birdie Montes scored eight points on three goals and five assists, and Megan Miller came off the bench to tally four goals and an assist to lead Hartford to a 20-2 women's lacrosse victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium this evening.
The Hawks won for the first time this season (1-9), while the Hornets fell to 0-4.
Hartford scored the first two goals of the game, one by Montes, two-minutes-16 seconds into the contest.
Delaware State got on the board when Olivia Summerville scored on a free position shot to cut the Hawks' lead to 2-1 at the 25:24 mark of the first period.
Hartford responded by scoring the last 10 goals of the period to open up a 12-1 lead at the break. Montes scored two more goals and assisted on five others during the spurt.
The Hawks led 18-1 before Emmy McGill scored the Hornets' second goal with 4:28 left to play.
Miller scored each of her four goals in the second period for the Hawks.
The Hornets were outshot 36-19 in the contest.
Delaware State remains home for their next game on Friday against Howard. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
