Lewisburg, Pa. (Feb. 17, 2016) --- Bucknell opened its 2016 women's lacrosse season on a high note, topping visiting Delaware State 25-1 today.
Maddy Molinari, Gretchen Richter and Ally Furbay scored four goals each to lead the Bison, who returned 10 starters and 20 letterwinners from their 2015 squad.
Bucknell's Eve Lukowski had three goals and five assists for a team-high eight points.
The Bison scored 15 seconds into the contest on a goal by Molinari and led 5-0 after Furbay scored for the second time with 20:47 left in the opening period.
Bucknell held 12-0 advantage at the break.
The Hornets avoided a shutout when Kiana Dawson scored an unassisted goal on her only shot of the game with 5:38 left to play. The Hornets were held to three shots in the contest.
Delaware State will play its 2016 home opener on Saturday morning (Feb. 20) against St. Bonaventure. The contest gets underway at 10 a.m. at DSU's Alumni Stadium.
