Staten Island, N.Y. (Mar. 31, 2015) --- Delaware State trailed 2-1 before allowing 19 straight goals in a 22-3 loss at Wagner today.
Shea Gegan scored five goals and teammates Gretchen Fay and Lauren Ednie added three each to lead the Seahawks (3-7). Eleven Wagner players recorded goals and five collected assists.
Emily Etkins scored two goals for the Hornets to give her a team-high 17 this season. Iman Hassan tallied DSU's other goal, her fifth of the season.
Wagner led 2-0 before Etkins scored her first goal of the game on a free position shot at the 26:18 mark of the first period.
The Seahawks regained a two-goal lead on Fay's second score with 25:13 left in the opening period.
Wagner also scored the next 18 goals, including five in a row by Gegan, to open up a 21-1 lead.
The Hornets broke the Seahawk run when Etkins and Hassan scored back-to-back goals late in the second period.
Delaware State returns to action on Wed. April 8 at home against District of Columbia. Game time is 4 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
