Phila., Pa. (Mar. 12, 2015) --- La Salle scored the first seven goals of the game en route to a 19-4 victory over Delaware State in a women's lacrosse contest Wednesday evening.
Kately Fay had five goals and an assist for a game-high six points to lead the Explorers' 38-shot attack. A total of 12 La Salle players scored a goal, while Alanna Diffendal notched three assists.
Four players scored for Delaware State (0-7), including Emily Etkins, who tallied her team-high eighth goal of the season.
Fay scored three of La Salle's first seven goals. Her third gave the Explorers a 7-0 lead at the 12:54 mark of the first period.
The Hornets got on the board when Kayla Yurkanin scored an unassisted goal with 11:17 left in the opening period. Yurkanin is tied for second on the team with eight scores.
Fay scored her fourth and fifth goals of the game to give La Salle a 9-1 lead.
Lauren Perry scored her third goal of the season for the Hornets to cut La Salle's lead to 13-2.
The Explorers (3-3) led 14-2 at the half.
La Salle was ahead 19-2 when Etkins and Iman Hassan scored the last two goals of the game for the Hornets.
Delaware State returns to action with a home contest against Detroit Mercy on Monday (Mar. 16). Game time is 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
