Dover, Del. (Apr. 27, 2014) ---Justin Allen and Charles Dailey drove in four runs each to lead Delaware State to a 16-8 win and series sweep over Norfolk State at Soldier Field today.
The Hornets won their sixth straight game to improve to 24-13 overall and 13-6 in the MEAC's Northern Division. The Spartans fell to 15-24 and 11-10.
DSU has opened up a three-game lead in the division race with five league games left to play.
Allen, making just his second start of the season, was three-for-three, including a triple. He singled in two runs in the Hornets' four-run second inning. Allen tripled in a sixth inning run and singled in a run in the seventh.
Dailey was two-for-four at the plate. He tripled in three runs in the third inning to give the Hornets a 7-0 lead; and singled in a seventh inning run.
DJ Miller was three-for-five, including his second home run of the season to lead off the Hornet fifth.
Cameron Cecil was three-for-five with three runs batted in for the Hornets.
Chase Kyriacou was two-for-five with a three-run homer for Norfolk State.
The Hornets return to action with a doubleheader at Delaware on Wednesday. Game one is scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m. at Bob Hannah Stadium.
