Detroit, Mich. (Mar. 11, 2014) --- Twelve players tallied at least one goal in Detroit's 19-6 women's lacrosse win over Delaware State today.
Megan Card, Kayla Yurkanin and Emily Etkins collected two goals each to account for the Hornets' scoring.
The Titans led 1-0 when Card scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1 with 29:06 left in the first quarter.
Detroit scored the next nine goals to open up a 10-1 lead.
Card scored her second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, to cut the Titans' lead to 10-2 at the 11:36 mark of the opening period.
Detroit scored the last six goals of the period to lead 16-2 at the break.
Delaware State scored its first goal of the second period on an unassisted shot by Etkins to pull to within 17-3.
The Hornets trailed 18-3 when Yurkanin found the net on a free position shot with 15:36 left in the game.
Yurkanin tallied her second goal of the game with 8:32 to play.
Etkins closed out the scoring off a feed from Yurkanin with 4:22 remaining. A freshman, Etkins has a school-record 14 goals and 15 points this season. She has at least one goal in five of the Hornets' six games this season.
Delaware State outscored the Titans 4-3 in the second period.
The Hornets return to action this Saturday (Mar. 15) at home against Manhattan. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
