HORNETS NET SEASON HIGH GOALS IN LOSS TO FLAMES

Dover, Del. (Mar. 1, 2013) --- The Delaware State University women's lacrosse team had its highest scoring output of the season, but was no match for Liberty in a 21-4 loss at Alumni Stadium today.

The Flames improved to 2-2 this season, while the Hornets fell to 0-3 in the program's first year.

A total of 12 players scored for Liberty, led by Morgan Becker's four goals. Caroline Milwicz had three scores, while four other players tallied two each for the Flames. Liberty's Sam Struss had a goal and seven assists for a game-high eight points.

Four players had one goal each for Delaware State.

The Hornets trailed 5-0 when Cris Glenn scored an unassisted goal to cut the Flames' lead to four with 24:08 left in the first period. It was the first goal of Glenn's career.

Liberty scored the next nine goals to open up a 14-1 first period lead.

Delaware State answered with three consecutive goals for the first time in team history to pull closer.

Sierra Harris notched her first career score with 8:33 left in the opening period for the Hornets' second goal of the game. DSU's Emily Peets recorded her second score of the season with 7:05 left in the period to pull the Hornets to within 14-3.

Delaware State scored its final goal of the game on a shot by Kiyanna Brown to cut Liberty's lead to 14-4 with 4:57 remaining in the first period.

Brown and Peets share the team lead with two goals each this season.

The Hornets return to action on Monday (Mar. 4) at Mount St. Mary's. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
