After a timeout with 2.9 seconds left, Delaware State's Cortney Crockett missed a hurried three-point attempt as time expired.

Delaware State trailed by as many as six in the second half, but pulled ahead, 52-50, on two free throws by Selena Galloway with 14.9 seconds left in the game. On the ensuing possession, Morgan State nearly committed a turnover in the backcourt before getting the ball to Hawkins, who launched the game-winning shot from the right wing in front of her team's bench.

The Lady Hornets dominated much of the first half before Morgan State rallied to lead at the break.

Delaware State opened up a 23-12 lead on a jumper by Tonya Clark with 6:28 left in the first half. Morgan State outscored DSU 14-2 during the remainder of the half to take a 26-25 lead at the midway point.

The Lady Bears held their biggest second half lead, 39-33, after two free throws by Georgian Williams with 9:39 left to play.

Delaware State was 22-of-65 from the field (33.8%), but failed to connect on six three-point attempts. Morgan State connected on 18-of-45 shots from the floor (40%), including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.
