HORNETS LOSE TO NAVY

DOVER (April 29, 2008) -The Hornets lost a tough game this afternoon, 17-5, against Navy at Soldier Field.  The loss brings the Hornets overall record to 15-26 while Navy improved to 29-21.

Mike Guadagnini, Michael Speciale, Jeff Bland and Mitch Melton led Navy past the Hornets with three RBI's each on the day.  Guadagnini, Speciale and Bland each had homeruns in the game.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning.  However, Bland hit a two-run homerun to right field in the top of the third inning to take the lead for good.  They went on to score two more runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings.  They also added four runs in the eight and six runs in the ninth inning.

 The winning pitcher for Navy was Wes Olson (2-1) who went 5.1 innings pitched, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. 

Mike Ingram (0-4) was the losing pitcher on the day for the Hornets.  The Hornets used six pitchers in the game.

The Hornets return to play this weekend with their last home series of the season.  The series, which is against Bethune-Cookman, will begin Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Soldier Field.
