HORNETS FALL TO AGGIES IN SERIES FINALE

Greensboro (April 27, 2008) --- Joe Wade knocked in three runs, while Nick Mayo and Nick Rogers knocked in two each to lead North Carolina A&T to an 8-2 win over Delaware State in MEAC baseball Sunday. The Aggies won two of three games in the weekend series to improve to 21-25 overall and 8-6 in the MEAC. The Hornets fell to 21-25 and 10-4. Delaware State is second in the league standings behind Bethune-Cookman (15-0). North Carolina A&T opened the scoring when Joe McIntyre doubled in a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Aggies took a 2-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Wade in the last of the second. Delaware State got on the board when Jarrett Bibb led off the fourth inning with his 11th homer of the season. North Carolina A&T answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Mayo doubled in the first two runs and Wade smacked a two-run homer in the inning to give the Aggies a 6-1 lead. North Carolina A&T opened up an 8-1 lead on Rogers' two-run double in the eighth. The Hornets closed out the scoring with a run in the ninth on Alex Carter's sacrifice fly. Marquis Frink pitched six innings to earn the win for North Carolina A&T. Jamie Friel was tagged with the loss for the Hornets. Delaware State will be home on Monday to complete a suspended game against Navy. Start time is 3:00 p.m. The game was stopped in the fifth inning with Navy ahead 2-1 on April 3 in Annapolis, MD.
