Women's Tennis Receives USTA Grant

DOVER, Del. - Delaware State women's tennis has been awarded a $22,250 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA), as the latter announced on Thursday.

The grant is a venue services grant, which will be under the leadership of head coach Joseph Hodge. According to the USTA, the main goal of a venue services grant is to "...enhance existing tennis venues and construct new ones in order to provide increased playing opportunities in communities across the country."

"We are beyond grateful to receive this generous grant from the USTA to improve our tennis courts and facilities here at DSU," Hodge said. "We're excited about the impact it will have on our team, the University, and the community at large, and we look forward to continuing to build awareness of our program while also fostering the growth of tennis in our community."

In addition to awarding the grant, the USTA also provides project management assistance and technical assistance.

The Hornets went 5-10 (2-4 MEAC) in 2024-25 and faced Norfolk State in the first round of the MEAC Tournament.
