SYRACUSE, New York --The Delaware State Hornets took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 6-4 to the Le Moyne Dolphins Saturday.
Amari Gordon (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Delaware State (3-25, 2-15) and took the loss. Eddie Del Valle was a bright spot for the Hornets, starting the ballgame and throwing six innings, giving up three runs, all earned, on six hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts.
At the plate, the Hornets were led by Hassan Turner, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and three RBI. Jabril Bullock compiled a standout effort as well, going 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Alec Rodriguez also helped out for Delaware State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Delaware State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Turner. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Le Moyne scored six times over the remaining seven innings to grab the 6-4 win.
