GAME 2 | Delaware State 6, Norfolk State 2
NORFOLK, Va. --The Delaware State Hornets rallied from down 2-0 in the eighth inning to win in exciting fashion, scoring six runs in the ninth to earn a 6-2 victory over the Norfolk State Spartans Friday.
Freshman Michael Lane (2-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Delaware State (6-16, 5-6). The right-hander went two shutout innings while giving up four hits, allowing no walks and striking out four. Sophomore Jack Messmore also made an impact on the mound for the Hornets, starting the ballgame and throwing 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on six hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.
Trailing 2-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the ninth inning. Delaware State's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a three-run double off the bat of senior Chris Amparo. The score remained 6-2 for the rest of the game, as the Hornets coasted to the win. Norfolk State was led offensively by sophomore Justin Journette, who went 3-for-5. Senior John Horton led the Spartans pitching staff, throwing seven scoreless innings.

NORFOLK, Va. --The Delaware State Hornets rallied from down 4-3 in the sixth inning to take down the Norfolk State Spartans 6-5 Friday.
Freshman Kieran Etwaru (3-0) got the win for Delaware State (5-16, 4-6). The right-hander went six innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven. Sophomore E. Bouldin started the ballgame and went one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out three.
In the batter's box, the Hornets were led by sophomore Joey Current, who went 1-for-3 on the day with two walks and three RBI. Bouldin furnished a standout effort as well, going 3-for-5. Senior Jancarlos Colon also contributed for Delaware State, putting together one hit in five trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
The Hornets were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Delaware State picked up a pair of runs in the frame.
The Hornets kept the deficit at 3-2 before tying the score in the fourth. Sophomore Brendan Timmons came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State, which brought the score level at 3-3.
Norfolk State broke that tie and grabbed a 4-3 lead heading into the seventh, when Delaware State grabbed the advantage at 5-4. The Hornets scored two runs when a single from Current brought home Bouldin and senior Chris Amparo.
Delaware State held the Spartans scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Hornets drove in a run when Current drew a walk that scored Bouldin, bringing the Delaware State advantage to 6-4. Norfolk State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Hornets still held on for the 6-5 win. Norfolk State was led offensively by freshman Jalan Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Senior Dalton Barham led the Spartans pitching staff, throwing five innings of three-run ball.
