Box Score 2 Dover, Del. (Apr. 6, 2021) --- The Delaware State softball team dropped two at Villanova today, falling 8-0 in the opener before suffering an 11-2 loss in the nightcap.
Villanova's Paige Rauch allowed just two singles, while striking out nine without a walk to win game one. Angela Giampolo was the hitting star for the Wildcats with three hits, including a home run, and three runs batted in.
Jaelyn Baker and
Alaena Selden collected singles in the opener for the Hornets.
In game two, Giampolo was one of four players with two runs batted in for the Wildcats.
Villanova scored two runs in the first, five in the second and three in the third to open up a 10-0 lead.
Delaware State trailed 11-0 before Yanique Spence smacked a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to avoid the shutout for the Hornets.
Jasmine Melgoza was two-for-two, while Selden had two hits in three at bats in game two for the Hornets.
