HORNETS MAKE HISTORY WITH NO. 7 NATIONAL EQUESTRIAN RANKING

Dover, Del. (Nov. 23, 2021) --- The Delaware State equestrian team continues to raise its national profile. The Hornets have climbed to No. 7 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association Top 10 Dual Discipline Team Rankings, the best showing in team history. Delaware State re-entered the national poll  last month for the first since the 2019-20 season, ranking 10th.in the October vote.
The Hornets wrapped up their 2021-22 fall schedule with impressive showings in wins over Cal Davis and South Dakota State last weekend.

"This is a great achievement for our program," said Delaware State head coach Jennifer Ridgley, who is in her 16th season leading the team. "Our student-athletes and coaches have worked really hard, and to be considered among the best in the country is quite an accomplishment."

The Hornets will begin the winter/spring portion of their schedule on Jan. 27 at No. 10 Texas Christian.

"The national ranking is a great reward for our hard work and will provide motivation to climb even higher," said Ridgley. "It's also another great selling point about our program to future student-athletes and supporters.

Delaware State will host the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship tournament at the State Fairgrounds in Harrington beginning March 24.
