The Game
The Delaware State women's basketball team (5-13, 0-6 MEAC) will aim for its first conference win Saturday afternoon (2-17, 0-6 MEAC) on the road against the Morgan State Bears (2-17, 0-6 MEAC), who is also in search of their first MEAC victory of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Opponent
» Morgan State Bears (2-17, 0-6 MEAC)
The Bears head into Saturday's contest looking to snap a 10-game losing skid, with their last victory occurring on Dec. 18 at home over Towson. Offensively, MSU is led by the MEAC's second leading scorer guard Tracey Carrington (21.8 ppg), who also leads the team in rebounding (4.8 rpg). The squad's next leading scorer, meanwhile, is guard Danielle Forest (7.2 ppg).
» The Head Coach: Donald Beasley is in his ninth season with the Morgan State women's basketball program. Throughout his tenure, Beasley has reached the century mark in wins and has had at least one player receive All-MEAC honors each season.
» The Series: Delaware State is 37-32 all-time against the Bears. Last season, the Lady Hornets dropped both meetings to Morgan State, including a 69-67 overtime defeat on the road.

Last Time Out…
The Lady Hornets defeated Wesley at home this past Monday, 79-37, to snap a four-game losing streak. At game's end, four DSU players scored in double figures, led by guard/forward Deanna Harmon's double-double performance of 19 points (5-of-9) and a career-high 14 rebounds for, to go along with a game-high five steals. Guard Raven Bankston, on the other hand, led all scorers with 28 points (13-of-21), which tied a career-high, whereas starter Mi'Queara Lewis tallied career-highs in points (10) and rebounds (9) for DSU down low. Off the bench, Tylinn Carter scored a career-high 13 points (5-of-8) and tied a career-high in rebounds (9) despite playing just 13 minutes, in what was her first game back after missing the previous two. Assist wise, guard Jade Washington not only set a career-high with 12, but it also matched a team single-game record.
Coming Home
Forward Mi'Queara Lewis and guard/forward Deanna Harmon will be back in their hometown Saturday when DSU takes on Morgan State. Lewis, a native of Baltimore, Md., starred at Digital Harbor High School and averaged a double-double (12 ppg and 10 rpg) as a senior. Harmon, who is from nearby Owings Mills, Md., led her St. Frances Academy squad to three IAAM Championships, including a 21-0 mark as a junior.
Familiar Face
On Saturday, a familiar face in former DSU women's basketball head coach Ed Davis (2000-12) will be in attendance as an assistant coach with Morgan State. Manning the sidelines for 12 seasons, Davis posted a 178-182 overall record at DSU, including a 121-85 mark in conference action. Davis' years at Delaware State are highlighted by a MEAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth (2007), a MEAC regular season co-championship (2003-04), five MEAC championship game appearances and the only 20-win seasons (four) in team history.
Road Woes
In 10 road games this season, DSU is 1-9 and being outscored, 79-60. Offensively, the Lady Hornets are shooting 37 percent from field, including 22 percent from beyond the arc, while also dishing out 113 assists, compared to 168 by their oppositions. Additionally, opposing squads are shooting 45 percent, along with owning the rebounding advantage (437-352). Dating back to last season, the Lady Hornets have dropped 13 out of their last 14 road games.
Rough Stretch
This past Monday's win against Wesley for Delaware State marked its second victory in the last 12 games. During this stretch, the Lady Hornets have been outscored, 71-57, while shooting 35 percent from the floor and 18 percent from beyond the arc. Defensively, teams are shooting 43 percent from the field, including 36 percent from long distance. Delaware State has also struggled to take care of the ball by totaling 219 turnovers, compared to 124 assists.
Can't Shake the Injury Bug
Throughout the season, the Lady Hornets have been hit hard on the injury front. Before playing a game, center Janay Carter and guard Aaliyah Davis both suffered season-ending knee injuries, whereas guard Raine Bankston also went down with a season-ending knee injury after starting five games.
Later in the year, guard Diamond Williams (ankle) missed three games before returning to action against NCCU (Jan. 18), while leading scorer and rebounder Tierra Hawkins re-aggravated a shoulder injury in practice before in preparation for Wesley. Hawkins originally suffered the injury in the first half against Coppin State (Dec. 7) and missed the next two games before returning at Marshall (Dec. 21).
At This Point Last Season…
The Lady Hornets were 7-11 and 4-1 in MEAC play, coming off a 57-53 victory at Florida A&M.

Delaware State will stay on the road and face the Coppin State Eagles on Monday (5:30 p.m.). Earlier in the season, the Lady Hornets fell 80-75 at home to CSU on Dec. 7.
