HORNETS ANNOUNCE BASEBALL SIGNINGS

Dover, Del. (May 7, 2010) --- Delaware State University Head Baseball Coach J.P. Blandin has announced that five high school players have signed commitments to attend the university and compete for the Hornets beginning with the 2011 season.  The signees include three catchers, a pitcher and a third baseman.

Below are bios on Delaware State's 2011 baseball recruits:

Terrell Joyce is a third basemen from Newport News, Virginia where he attends Woodside High School.  Terrell is the No. 9  rated prospect in the state of Virginia by Perfect Game.  He is a 2010 preseason All American Honorable Mention selection by Perfect Game.  He was ranked as the No. 1 prospect at the Atlantic Coast Top Prospect showcase held by Perfect Game this past summer.   As a junior he earned First Team All Peninsula District Honors and he had a .433 batting average, 7 home runs and 33 RBI in 22 games. 
 
Eddie Sorondo is a catcher from Bayonne, New Jersey and attends Marist High School.  He was a 2009 Preseason All America Selection by Collegiate Baseball.  He was also a 2010 Preseason All America by Under Armor.  Sorondo was selected to compete in the Power Hitter Showcase this past winter at Tropicana Field which is an All American Home Run Derby.  As a sophomore he had a .543 batting average with 5 home runs and 29 RBI.  As a junior, he earned all-state and all-conference honors after batting .601, with 5 home runs and 43 RBI.


Cameron Cecil is a catcher from Hayes, Virginia, where he attends Gloucester High School.   He was a Second Team All Peninsula Selection.  Last summer, Cecil attended a showcase presented by Baseball Clearinghouse and was ranked among one of the top prospect at the showcase.  He participated in the Commonwealth Games in Virginia, where the top high school players in the state compete in a tournament.  He played his summer ball with the Virginia Diamonds and was teammates with fellow DSU early signee Terrell Joyce.
 
Tommy Dill is a right-handed pitcher from Dover, Delaware and attends Polytech High School.  Tommy was a Second Team All State Selection as a junior.  He was also a First Team All Henlopen Conference performer.  He has a 10-1 record on the mound as a junior.  He also was chosen to compete in the 2009 Carpenter Cup Tournament.  Dill was also a standout football player for Polytech, and was selected to compete in the Blue Gold All Star Football Game. 


Aaron Nardone is a catcher from Chesapeake, Virginia, where he attends Deep Creek High School.  He was an Honorable Mention All Southeastern District player.  He attended a Baseball Clearinghouse showcase last summer and was rated among the top players at the showcase along with earning some of the highest power hitting numbers at the showcase.  He was regarded as one of the Top Left Handed Hitters in the state of Virginia.  Nardone also competes with the Mid Atlantic Pirates travel ball team.
