PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (August 29 2008) ? It was a tough night for the DSU women's soccer team as they dropped their season opener at La Salle, 3-0. The Hornets fall to 0-1 on the season, while La Salle improves to 1-0.
“It's important to get something out of a game like this,” Head Coach Nitan Soni Said. “You live and you learn.”
It didn't take long for La Salle to get on the board as forward Alex Conley scored just five minutes into the contest. However, the Hornets went into halftime trailing only 1-0.
Unfortunately, the second half provided no solace for DSU as they were unable to score on the Explorers' defense. La Salle goalkeeper Melissa Sanger registered only one save, but it was enough to preserve the win. DSU goalkeeper Courtney Haas registered seven saves in the loss.
The Hornets will travel to Brooklyn, this Saturday, to face Long Island University at 2 p.m.
