CHICAGO, IL -- Delaware St. fell to Chicago State 1-0 Sunday (Sept. 20) after the Cougars scored the game's lone goal in the first half.
How it Happened
Chicago State took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when Alyssa Owens found the back of the net at 27:54, with Stephanie Vazquez Ceron and Jennifer Vasquez credited with the assists.
Delaware State held an 8-6 advantage in shots, with both teams recording two shots on goal. The Hornets also held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks but were unable to find the equalizer.
Nicole Cargill led Delaware State with three shots, including two on goal. Yazmeen Smith and Alyssa Peregrino each added two shots, while Thalia Garcia recorded one.
Jazmin Bailey played all 90 minutes in goal for Delaware State and made one save. Chicago State goalkeeper Sierra Sonko recorded two saves to preserve the shutout.
