DOVER, DE -- Delaware St. fell to Hampton 1-0 Thursday (Sept. 3) at Scott D. Miller Stadium after the Pirates scored the game's lone goal late in the second half.

How it Happened
Neither team found the back of the net during the opening half, with Hampton holding a 10-4 advantage in shots. Delaware St. goalkeeper Jazmin Bailey kept the Hornets within striking distance with seven saves in the first half.

Delaware St. generated more offensive chances after halftime, recording nine shots in the second half. Hampton broke the scoreless tie in the 79th minute when Nylah Jennings found the back of the net at 78:44.

The Hornets finished with 13 shots, including nine on goal. Nicole Cargill led Delaware St. with three shots, while Trinity Surowiec, Aryanna Peregrino and Alyssa Peregrino each recorded two. Peregrino finished with two shots on goal.

Bailey totaled nine saves in the match, while Dorcas Ikechukwu added two saves in relief. Hampton goalkeeper Jacqueline Jenkins also recorded nine saves to preserve the shutout.
