Hornets Home and Away Weekend  
After a tough loss to first place UMES, the Hornets will host Howard, October 10 and will travel to Morgan State, October 12.  The Hornets are 7-43 all-time against the Bison and 15-29 against the Bears. 

Looking Back  
In 2007, The Hornets handled Howard, 3-0, but fell to Morgan State 3-1.  Against Howard, setter Sarah Wheatcroft tallied 12 kills while racking up a .318 hitting percentage.  Against Morgan State, the Hornets as a team registered a .219 hitting percentage with 65 kills. 

Head Coach Renee Arnold  
DSU Head Coach Renee Arnold (57-92) is in her fifth season with the Hornets.  In 2008, she led the Hornets to a 3-0 showing at the Delaware State Tournament in late September.     

Last season, Arnold led the team to a 11-20 overall record and a 7-3 MEAC record. She also led DSU to a MEAC Tournament win over North Carolina A&T before falling to Maryland-Eastern Shore (2-3) in the semifinals. Arnold's 2007 overall record included contests against #2 Stanford and #3 Penn State, along with major conference foes Boston College and Michigan State.  

The 2008 Hornets   
Junior Cassandra Joyner leads the team in kills (158), kills/game (2.98), total blocks (39) and blocks/game (0.74).      

Sophomore Erica Tajchman leads the Hornets in digs (106), digs/game (2.26) and is tied for the tead in service aces. (16)  She also ranks second in kills, (118) and kills/game, (2.51)   

Freshman Martina Ferrari leads the team in assists (219) and assists/game (4.38).      

As a team, the Hornets rank second in the MEAC in opponents hitting percentage (.182), hitting percentage, (.183) blocks/game, (1.77) service aces/game, (1.60) and third in digs. (666) (All as of 10/6)  

Home is Where the Heart Is
The Hornets will face Howard, 10/10, in their first official home match of the 2008 campaign.  DSU is 16-8 (.667) at home, under head coach Renee Arnold

Winning Early
Since 2006, the Hornets have only won one match before their fifteenth contest.  In 2008, they have won seven times in that time span.

The Art of the Home and Away Weekend
DSU will be faced with their first and only Shome and away weekend of the season.  Under head coach Renee Arnold, the Hornets are 4-6 when are faced with this scenario.

“Digging” Up a New School Record
Freshman Setter Sonja Banicevic set a new school record with 30 digs against Hampton, 10/3.  The previous record stood at 26 by Kinga Muszynski. (10/7/06 vs. Howard)

Howard Player to Watch - Gazelle D'Artois- OH
D'Artois is the Bison's most well-rounded player.  She leads the team with 3.10 kills/game, 2.49 digs/game, 0.81 blocks/game. (First in MEAC)  As of 10/6, she ranks 267th in nation in kills/game. (Sixth in MEAC)

Morgan State Player to Watch - Christa Rogers ? S
Rogers leads the team with 5.14 assists/game.  As of 10/6 she ranks 297th in the nation in that category.  (Eighth in MEAC)
She is also the sister of former DSU athlete Jasmine Rogers.
