FORMER HORNET JOHN TAYLOR LISTED AMONG ESPN?S ?TOP 50 DRAFT STEALS?

DOVER (April 22, 2008) ? With the NFL Draft just days away, ESPN has listed the Top 50 NFL Draft Steals, ranking the biggest stars, who were drafted after the first round. Listed at No. 25, former DSU wide receiver John Taylor, who was a third-round pick (No. 76 overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1986 draft.

In nine seasons with San Francisco, Taylor amassed 347 receptions (43 for scores), excelled after the catch, was an excellent blocker and caught the winning touchdown pass from Joe Montana in Super Bowl XXIII.

A 1984 Sheridan Black College All-American, Taylor played for the Hornets from 1982-85. During that time, he compiled 100 catches for 2,426 yards and 42 touchdowns. Taylor still holds the longest pass reception (97 yards from Jerome Naker) in school history as well as the most receiving yards (223) in a single game (both versus St. Paul's ? 9/21/85).
