The Hornets Tennis team traveled to Indiana, Pennsylvania last weekend to compete against teams such as Frostburg State University, Mercyhurst University, Salem University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Delaware State Hornets came in first place in overall wins (combined singles and doubles) with 19, leading runners-up IUP by 4 wins. Standout performances by Catherine Goldman and Alba Benedito for an undefeated run in singles for the weekend, and also to Lucia Casas Blas and Sia Mahajan for being undefeated in doubles throughout the weekend.
The Hornets went undefeated in singles the second day of the tournament, with some huge wins in 3rd set tiebreakers. The Hornets also won three out of four doubles matches on the final day, clinching the win for the team.
All five new freshmen had their first collegiate wins this weekend (Alba Benedito, Audrey Yvana Mengue, Hannah Watkins, Maite Bou Safont, and Kayla Wright). Transfers Catherine Goldman and Sia Mahajan also had their first wins as Hornets.
The Hornets will travel to Maryland in two weeks for their next competition in the Bedford Cup at JTCC in College Park, MD.
