Williamsburg, VA – The Delaware State Women's Triathlon program opened its season at the Patriot's Triathlon with speed and determination, setting the tone for a competitive year ahead.
The race was highlighted by an impressive first-place finish from freshman Rebecca Jansen. Competing in her first collegiate triathlon, Jansen set the pace early with a 10:40.1 swim, maintained her position during the bike leg with a final time of 34:47.1 (averaging 21.4 mph), and ultimately pulled ahead in the run, clocking 18:30.1 to secure the top spot. Her victory marked the Hornets' first individual win of the season and showcased the depth of talent within the program. Jansen finished with a final overall time of 1:06:48.6.
DSU's veteran performer Ava Larkin added to the Hornets' success, placing 4th out of 56 women and 23rd overall out of 106 student-athletes. Larkin opened her senior year, crossing the line in 1:10:50. Followed by Reut Shahar, who placed 7th among women and 32nd overall.
Lison Zeigler rounded out the lineup for Delaware State, closing the race with a final time of 1:14:57.8.
