WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY --The Delaware State Hornets struggled on Wednesday, falling to the Merrimack Warriors by final score of 11-1.
Sophomore Jack Messmore (2-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Delaware State (22-27).
The Hornets were trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Evan Bouldin came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State and get them on the board. Merrimack then scored 10 times over the remaining five innings to break the tie and grab the 11-1 win. Merrimack was led offensively by senior Cavan Brady, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Freshman Campbell Cassidy led the Warriors pitching staff, throwing two scoreless innings.
