Dover, Del. (Apr. 15, 2023) --- Delaware State's defense had the edge in the early going, but the offense took control in the later stages of the Hornets' second spring scrimmage before several hundred onlookers at Alumni Stadium this evening. Sophomore quarterback
Marqui Adams threw touchdown passes to wide receiver
NyGhee Lolley, and tight ends
Myles Morales and E.J. Core, while redshirt sophomore QB
C.J. Henry connected with wideout
Rahkeem Smith on a 57-yard scoring pass to highlight the offense's performance in the 90-play scrimmage. Veteran signal-callers
Jared Lewis (sr.) and
Tylik Bethea (jr.) also took snaps, while running backs
Tyshaun Capers,
Wade Inge and
Michael Chris-Ike handled most of the carries.
The defense, keyed by an early sack from lineman
Omakus Langley II, kept the offense in check for much of the early stages after a long pass from Adams to Smith on the first play of the scrimmage. Linemen
Darren Cook and
Eric Montes, along with fellow defenders
Jesus Robinson (LB),
Jasiyah Brooks (DB),
Daniel Douglas (DB) and
