(Apr. 1, 2023) --- North Carolina Central scored eight runs in the third and fifth innings to highlight its 16-2 victory over Delaware State in game one of a scheduled MEAC doubleheader this afternoon. Game two was postponed until Sunday (Apr. 2) at 10:00 a.m., followed by the series finale scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Nyla Rodgers was two-for-four with five runs batted in, while Takia Nichols drove in three runs to lead the Eagles' 16-hit attack in the opener.
North Carolina Central opened the scoring with eight runs in the top of the third inning. Delaware State answered with two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the Eagles' lead to six.
NC Central added eight more runs in the top of the fifth inning to blow the game open,
Delaware State had four hits in the game, two by left fielder Emma Glawson, who singled in a third inning run.
