A standout Hornet football student-athlete, David D. Jones is 12th among Delaware State tight ends and 12th in team history with 101 receptions. In 1990, he set the Delaware State single-season mark for receiving yards at 104.9 per game when he became the first player in team history with 1,000 or more receiving yards in a season (1,049), eclipsing the mark previously held by Hornet great John Taylor (949).
Jones is 8th on the Hornets career list with 1,825 career receiving yards and tied for 5th with 20 career touchdown receptions. He has the 3rd best single-game mark with 213 receiving yards vs. NCA&T in 1990, 6th best with 198 vs. Liberty in 1990 and 8th best with 185 vs. Bethune-Cookman, also in 1990.
Jones was a two-time Black College Sports First Team All-America (1989, '90) and three-time All-MEAC First Team honoree (1988, 89, '90).
