NORFOLK, Va. --- Delaware State junior middle blocker
Alondra Maldonado has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week for women's volleyball as announced by the league earlier this afternoon.

Maldonado was effective on both sides of the ball for the Hornets last week during their appearance in the Mountaineer Invitational. On the offensive side, she recorded a team-high 42 kills averaging 3.23 kills per set. With only 12 errors on 89 total attacks, she finished with a hitting percentage of .337.

On the defensive side, she was in on 11 assisted blocks which gave her a total of 47.5 points for the week at a rate of 3.65 points per set.

This is the second time this season Maldonado has been honored by the MEAC as she garnered the same award just two weeks ago.

Delaware State will open MEAC competition this Friday in a road contest in a rematch of the 2021 MEAC Championship Tournament with the defending champion Howard Bison. First serve from Burr Gymnasium is currently scheduled for 6 p.m.
