Norfolk, Va. (July 29, 2022) --- Delaware State has landed four players on the 2022 Preseason All-MEAC First Team, in voting by league head coaches and sports information directors announced during the league's annual Media Day at the Norfolk Hilton The Main.
Hornet defensive standouts
Esaias Guthrie (r-so.; DB),
Isaiah Williams (r-sr.; DL) and
Ronald Holmes (so;Â LB) were selected to the preseason all-conference first team, along with punter
Matt Noll (so.).
Guthrie was a 2021 All-MEAC First Team and HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-America selection. Williams and Noll were also '21 All-MEAC First Team honorees.
The Hornets were shut out of 2022 Preseason All-MEAC First Team selections on the offensive side of the ball. Â Â Â Â Â
Two Delaware State players were named to the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team offense, center
Dillon Marshall (sr.) and fellow lineman
Brandon Bradford (sr.).
The Hornets are represented on the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team defense by lineman
Marcus Winfield (r-so), and linebacker
Brooks Parker (sr.), along with defensive backs Jawain Granger (sr.) and
Charles Peeler (sr.).
Norfolk State running back J.J. Davis (r-so.) was chosen by voters as the MEAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while South Carolina State lineman Jablonski Green (r-jr.) was tabbed for the defense. Â Â
