Phila., Pa. (Dec. 17, 2022) --- Luke House led three double-figures scorers for Drexel with 25 points in the Dragons' 85-52 victory over visiting Delaware State in the first-ever meeting between the team today. Drexel won for the second time in the last three games to improve to 6-6 this season, while the Hornets dropped their ninth straight to fall to 1-10.
Brandon Stone was Delaware State's high scorer with 11 points on five-for-10 shooting from the field, and tied for the team-high with five rebounds.
House hit 10 of his 15 shots from the field, including five-of-10 on three-point attempts. Coletrane Washington added 12 points, while Jamie Bergan chipped in 10 for the Dragons. Drexel's Amari Williams a game-high 12 rebounds.
Delaware State only trailed 18-14 after a basket by
Kyle Johnson, but the Dragons scored the next 15 points, and pulled ahead 33-14 on a three-pointer by Lamar Oden, Jr. with 4:39 left in the first half. Drexel ran off 10 straight points later in the half, and stretched its lead to 43-15 on a three-ball by Yame Butler at the 1:59 mark of the half. The Dragons led 48-16 at the break. Drexel was 18-for-32 from the field, including nine-of-18 on three-point shots in the first half. Â
Delaware State could get to closer than 26 points in the second half.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday (Dec. 20) at home against Wagner. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
