NORFOLK, VA --The Delaware State men's basketball team kept Morgan State to just 14.3 percent from deep in a 3-for-21 shooting performance on the way to a 75-70 win over the Bears at Scope Arena Wednesday.
The Hornets (8-22) had three players score in double figures, led by Miles Webb, who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Rahmir Moore added 14 points and Ponce James chipped in as well with 12 points and four assists.
Delaware State out-rebounded Morgan State 42-35 in Wednesday's game, led by Webb's 12 boards. The Hornets also pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and scored 13 second chance points.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 5-4 advantage, Delaware State went on a 6-0 run with 13:40 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Muazibini Adamu, to increase its lead to 11-4. The Hornets then added five points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 27-15 advantage. Delaware State took advantage of eight offensive rebounds to score five second chance points out of 27 total in the period
Delaware State then surrendered that advantage as Morgan State forced overtime by tying things up at 60-60 by the end of the second half. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 10 of its 33 total points.
Morgan State then snagged a 62-60 advantage with 3:15 left in the first overtime before Delaware State responded by going on a 5-0 run to seize a 65-62 lead with 2:06 to go in the period. The Hornets kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 75-70 win.
