PRINCESS ANNE, MD --Miles Webb, Rahmir Moore and Ponce James combined to score 44 of Delaware State's 57 total points as the Hornets took down the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks 57-56 on the road Thursday.
Webb led the Hornets (7-22, 2-12) with 21 points and six rebounds. Moore added 12 points and James helped out with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Cyril Obasogie pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Delaware State offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into nine second chance points.
Delaware State forced 15 Maryland-Eastern Shore turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Thursday's game. The Hornets turned those takeaways into 13 points on the offensive end of the floor. James' three steals led the way for Delaware State.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 4-2 advantage, Delaware State went on a 5-0 run with 16:43 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Obasogie, to increase its lead to 9-2. The Hornets then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 26-25 advantage. Delaware State capitalized on nine Maryland-Eastern Shore turnovers in the period, turning them into eight points on the other end of the floor.
The Hornets then held on for the victory in the second half. Delaware State made the most of seven offensive rebounds to tack on seven second chance points out of 31 total in the period.
