HORNETS CRUISE TO EXHIBITION WIN

Dover, Del. (Nov. 4, 2022) --- The Delaware State men's basketball team dominated each half in a 77-39 exhibition win over Gwynedd Mercy in Memorial Hall this evening.
Newcomer O'Koye Parker came off the bench to lead four double-figure scorers for the Hornets with 13 points on five-for-five shooting from the field, including three three-point shots.
Khyrie Staten tallied 12 points on six-for-11 shooting, while Martaz Robinson and newcomer Brandon Stone added 10 points each.
Robinson also led the Hornets with five assists and tied for the team high with three steals.
First-year Hornet Aaron Lemon-Warren came off the bench to grab a game-high seven rebounds.
As a team, Delaware State hit 28 of its 57 shots from the field (49.1%), including eight-of-26 on three-point shots (30.8%).
The Hornets forced Gwynedd Mercy into 25.4% shooting from the field (15-for-59) , including 17.4% from beyond the arc (4-for-23).    
Gwynedd Mercy led 4-3 before Delaware State took control. The Hornets outscored the Griffins 26-5 over the next 10 minutes, and opened up a 29-9 lead after a three-pointer by Parker at the 7:31 mark of the first half.
Delaware State led 34-16 at the half.
The Hornets scored the first 15 points to start the second half, and stretched their lead to 49-16 after two free throws by Corey Perkins with 14:15 left in the game.
Delaware State held its biggest lead, 77-35, after a lay-up by Aaron-Warren in the final minute.
The Hornets tip-off the 2022-23 regular season on the road at Virginia Tech on Monday (Nov. 7 @ 9:00 p.m.).
Delaware State's home is Nov. 10 against Immaculata. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
