Dawson draws final regular season MEAC honors

NORFOLK, Va. --- Delaware State sophomore middle blocker Kelsie Dawson was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league earlier today.

Dawson dominated on the defensive side of the ball for the Hornets in a week where Delaware State picked up two shutout wins over Morgan State University and University of Maryland Eastern Shore to cap off the 2022 regular season.

Dawson accounted for nine of the team's 16 total blocks last week after racking up four solo blocks and five assisted blocks for an average of 1.50 blocks per set during the week. She recorded a game-best three solo blocks at Morgan State University while all five of her assisted blocks came at home against University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Delaware State will now focus on the MEAC Volleyball Tournament set to start on Friday with the Hornets hosting this year's tournament at Memorial Hall. Tournament seeding and scheduling will be announced by the league later this week.
